Staff and pupils returned to school in September to see the opening of a stunning new library which has tripled in size, a large state-of-the-art ICT suite, a new multi-purpose classroom and enhanced dedicated areas for the sixth form students and three new and improved reception areas for each of its buildings.

The spacious and open library now accommodates up to twenty pupils and has become an essential learning space in the school. A wall was knocked through to double the size of the computer room which is now fully air conditioned and boasts fifteen new PCs.  The new reception areas are designed to create a welcoming environment for parents and pupils in each school building.

A significant investment has been made to the Sixth Form facilities allowing our students to study in three additional areas to help support their independent learning. The common room has been refreshed and improved to give the students a dedicated and sophisticated learning environment, in addition to a bespoke Sixth Form study room and a separate computer room.  Students also have access to a local university gym which they can use free of charge.

Headmaster at Portland Place School, David Hyman commented: “I have very much enjoyed listening to the response from our pupils and parents this past week in regards to the large scale changes that have taken place. Pupils are particularly enjoying using the brand new library and have also welcomed the new Computing classroom.

The pupils deserve these fantastic new facilities to support their incredible academic achievements and we are looking forward over the next year to working with all of our students to continue to achieve outstanding results.”
