Former pupil wins prestigious music prize

Our former pupil Oliver Wass has just won the GSMD Gold Medal competition at the Barbican Hall for his performance of Ginastera's Harp concerto. The Gold Medal is the most prestigious annual competition for the students of Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and previous winners have included musicians such as Jacqueline Du Pre, Bryn Terfel and Tasmin Little. Oliver Wass is in his first year of a Masters Degree at the Guildhall School, for which he was awarded a full scholarship. He graduated from the University of York with a First Class Honours Degree, achieving the highest mark ever awarded for a final recital, and winning the Blake Music Prize. Miss Bottrill
